The Chronicles of Narnia series is a household favorite. Serona has performed the role of Aslan in several productions of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and his read alouds of the book are hard to compete with. The kids have grown up on Narnia and we are very excited for the release in two weeks!
In preparation for the release I began scouring the internet for good The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe lesson plans. I have found several interesting things but by far the two best resources for lesson ideas, Narnia printables and general Chronicles of Narnia resources are The Narnia Academy and Narnia Resources.
The Narnia Academy offers a free 20 lesson study going through each chapter in "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and have short lessons on it. Here are the chapter titles:

Each section has online reading, lessons, activities, teachers guides with lesson plans, questions and other resources. It seems very well put together and informative. A great resource and free curriculum for anyone, especially homeschoolers. You can sign up individually or as part of a group. I highly recommend it.
The second resource Narnia Resources has many free downloadable resources. You can also order the resources free, though you do pay shipping which adds up quickly. Almost all the resources are available for free download though. There are great lesson plans for the Chronicles of Narnia, Narnia printables (including Narnia paper dolls) and posters. The guides are designed in different ways parent, teacher, child, event planner. Play around and see what resources you like or save them all to your computer and browse them later.
As we start working through the resources I can highlight what I like and what we do but I recommend you look through these great resources yourself. After all what can beat free lesson plans? Especially when they are interesting and well put together?

how did you get the lesson plans?
ReplyDeleteFor the Narnia Academy you need to register (it is free) and then log in. For the Narnia Resources, go to the free download page, click on the dowload icons and then download and save each guide which includes the lessons and colorful materials.

ReplyDeleteI went to a download page and it was just to download windows,internet explorer...ect.
So where are the narnia resources?

ohh--the site is not working today. So if you are wanting to download the lessons, they are not available yet. (unless you got them yesterday or before that). They are working on getting it fixed.

ReplyDeleteI just tried walking through it and I see your problem. It is completely different then it was yesterday when I used it. I called their office and their system has crashed and they are aware of the problems and are working on them now.
I can imagine your frustration as I was just frustrated and I know what was there. He said when you log in there will be a link to the Beyond the Wardrobe course and there you will find the lesson plans. You could look at the sample lesson plan from the homepage until they fix it.
The resources really were good maybe try back tommorrow. I will let you know with a comment here when I get back on.

Thank you, thank you for posting the link to the Narnia Academy. I got it up and running in no time at all and we started today. I LOVE the homeroom page and the daily devotional. I have a special needs teenager who absolutely love Narnia! It's always great when you can combine what they love with learning, and they're not even sure that's what you're doing! : ) I really like your site!

ReplyDeletewebsite that is an embedded link within the narniaresources.com website. On this site there is a link to "Free Downloads" and then
"Youth/teens." Within this is a link called "nariateens.com." The name sounds harmless, but the site is pornographic. We have contacted our software filter iGuard that has since updated their database to screen this site. Make sure that your filtering software blocks this site as it has only recently been indentified as objectionable material. The fact that it was purposely created to attract teens is an obvious violation of internet laws and I hope that those responsible will be brought to justice.
